Happy Halloween!

Image
BOO!  The bright spirits of our students and staffs were what made this year's Halloween a little more special than any other ones. Despite the gloomy weather, there were many students who came to school ready to get their scare on! They had a chance to compete in our annual Halloween Costume Contest. Some of the categories were the most original, scary, cute, etc... Thank you to all the students who dressed up and participated and congratulations to those who won!  Sophomore Class Officers were definitely in the spirit! Mrs. Kim-Sanders and few other teachers even wore their costumes to their staff meeting!

First Blood Drive of the Year

Image
Did you know that 3 teaspoons of blood can save a baby's life?  Did you also know that one  donation of blood has the potential to save as many as 3 lives? The first blood drive of the year held on the 27th of October , ended with a great success.  We held a brief noon hour down by the outdoor stage to promote the good cause and forms were available to the students in A5.  As a result, Aiea High School was able to earn a striking number of 52 pints!  Keep up the good work Aiea, and let’s see if we are able to beat our own score during our next blood drive! Warm caring hearts are what makes Na' Ali'i's blood drive so special. Rethmar posing in his awesome costume!

Kids Fest this past 2014

Just wanted to let you know although a little late in posting,  Aiea Student Executive Council had fun serving the community at this years Kids Fest in October.  It has become a tradition with our student council to participate in this community event, and is something we all look forward to doing each year. Go Na Ali'i! Freshmen Officers and friends helped at the kiddie tent. Sophomore Officers and friends Junior Officers helped distribute the food, at the food booth. Seniors were also there for their last Kids Fest. Thank you to the Advisors that were there as our Chaperones... Mr. Nakamitsu, Mr. Shimbukuro and Ms Uchida. We would not be able to do these kind of service and enrichment activities without your willingness to be with us.

Think Pink Week

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, we held a Think Pink Week.  Students were encouraged to wear pink every day. Cute bracelets and ribbons were on sale to the students. Every ribbon bought came with a delicious cookie, and those students were able to write a message of courage and hope. As a result of all of our hard work, we were able to earn $ 8 00 in donations! All the proceeds were donated to finding the cure for breast cancer, and we hope that we made a difference.

Thank You Aiea Day

Bank of Hawaii sponsored our Thank You Aiea Day. Both the adult and student volunteers worked very hard to beautify our campus. They picked up trashes around the campus, wiped windows of classrooms, painted the damaged walls, and mulched areas that was just covered in dirt. A big appreciation goes out to Bank of Hawaii for making this event possible and for all the volunteers that helped to change our school’s environment. Also, thanks to everyone’s hard work and sweat, our campus looks great!
