Aiea High School Student Activities

August 16 - 17, 2011: Aiea's Homecoming and Winterball court elections were held on August 16, while Junior Prom and Senior Prom court elections were held on August 17 at lunch in the school gym. Participants running in the elections spent the last two weeks campaigning with facebook advertisements, posters, flyers and treats for their peers in the hopes of gaining votes. On election day, students schoolwide made their way down to the school gym to cast their votes. We wish all the participants the best of luck in the elections!

August 8, 2011: Club sign-ups was held in the AHS library at lunch on August 8. Various clubs formatted themselves in the school library with informational posters, flyers, applications and sign-in sheets. Each club recruited large amounts of students and held their first meeting within the first two weeks of club sign-ups. Students left the library proud of their clubs and themselves; it looks like this year will have successful club turn-out and participation! (Click on the images provided above to enlarge)

August 11, 2011: Aiea's executive council held their second executive council meeting on August 11 after school in J5. The students followed the usual protocol; evaluating past events and planning for the upcoming events. So far a lot's been going on at Aiea, from the first day back to the incredibly large amount of students that participated in the club sign-ups. However, selecting homecoming dress-up days was the hit of the meeting. Each class submitted a few dress-up day ideas and it all dwindled down to the following: Tye-Dye (70's) Day Six-of-a-Kind Day Pretty in Pink Day Mustache Day Class T-Shirt Day Events like open house, court elections, picture taking and the spirited homecoming week is coming right around the corner and we all can't wait to see what's in store! August 5, 2011: Our annual welcome back assembly was held on August 5 in the school gym. After a summer of planning and preparation for the back to school events, the assembly went off without a hitch. The entire executive council met at the gym early that Friday morning to hang their gym class banners and prepare for the event. The theme for welcome back was Epic Movies, a broad topic allowing the councils to incorporate their creativity. The freshmen did a magical skit based on the famous Harry Potter series. The sophomores dressed up and played the parts of characters in Kung Fu Panda, putting their teamwork to the test. The juniors danced to the waves from Lilo and Stitch. The seniors gracefully spun, tiptoed and jumped around the stage as enchanted Disney Princesses. And lastly, student association whipped up a fearless Presentation as Jedis from the Star Wars. August 1, 2011: Our annual freshmen orientation was held on August 1, 2011 at the AHS school campus. The freshmen gathered for their first day of school to pick up their school IDs, class schedules and information packets for the start of a new school year. Aiea High School's faculty, staff and student government arrived early that morning to set up for a day of welcoming new faces. The day ran smoothly and everyone left campus with smiles from a great first day of school! Welcome class of 2015!
