Career Fair in Aiea!

November 3, 2011 - On a special Thursday in November, Aiea held it's career fair! The career fair is only held once every 2 years, and so for the Freshmen and Sophomores, this was their first experience with the career fair. For the Juniors and Seniors, this would be their second career fair, and this familiarity with the event would allow them to choose the topic they would want to listen to carefully. With the arrival of many guest speakers, the students were allowed to go to a variety of different careers, whether it be involving mechanics, law, firefighting, engineering, video and media, and much more. Also in the gym, students were allowed to look at different colleges and military opportunities. As this was either their first or last career fair, students in all grade levels were able to enjoy themselves on this unique day. (Click on the images provided above to enlarge)

Craft Fair

November 5, 2011 - Aiea held its annual craft fair on Saturday November 5th from 9 am until about 12 pm, and as usual, the weather was gloomy although it did nothing to dampen the spirits, festivities, and games taking place! The craft fair is held outside and inside of the cafeteria, and there were many booths that offered food and drinks, games, and crafts to the many guests that attended. Celebrating Aiea's 50th anniversary, there were also many products for sale such as T-shirts and much more! Not just the guests enjoyed their visit on this Saturday, but also the many student volunteers that participated during this event enjoyed themselves as well.(Click on the images provided above to enlarge)

WINTERBALL 2011

December 18, 2011 - This year, Aiea's annual winterball was held at the Pacific Beach Hotel in Wakiki on December 18th, 2011. Our winterball’s theme this year was “A Night in Wonderland”, and the theme colors were Tiffany blue, white, and silver. This year, more than the usual amount of people paid to attend, and so this annual night of festivities was filled with even more bonds, friendships, and laughter.(Click on the images provided above to enlarge)

11/17 BLOOD DRIVE

November 17, 2011: Aiea High School held it's first 2011 - 2012 Blood Bank of Hawaii blood drive in the school library on Thursday, November 17. Many students 17 years of age or older and weighing heavier than 110 pounds came out and participated in this annual blood drive. Before and after students were put through the procedure, refreshments were offered and chairs were set up for the students to rest in. This was the first blood drive of the school year, and there will be two more opportunities for the students who were unable to donate this time to participate! HALLOWEEN IN AIEA

October 31, 2011: Aiea High School students took Halloween seriously this year. The day consisted of festivities and an endless variety of costumes all throughout the campus. At wiki, students made their way down to the student activities room to retrieve spirit points toward their class, then to the outdoor stage during lunch for the annual Halloween costume contest. The contest consisted of four different categories; scariest, cutest, most original, and best group. Each participant took their walk of glory to show off their festive wear to the panel of judges. INOKUCHI HIGH SCHOOL VISITATION

October 14, 2011: Aiea High School's sister school, Inokuchi High School from Hiroshima, Japan made their annual visit to the campus on Friday, October 14. Aiea's Japanese language students eagerly prepared for a day full of fun activities with their pen pals. The day consisted of performances and presentations from both Aiea High School students as well as the Inokuchi High School students, pen pal exchanges, cross-art and arts and crafts activities, and a fun-filled night of shopping and bonding at Pearl Ridge Shopping Center. Although the AHS students didn't get to see them again before they left; they were extremely happy to finally meet their pen pals in person. (Click on the images provided above to enlarge)

HOMECOMING WEEK 2011

September 19, 2011 - September 23, 2011: The first school-wide event came to Aiea quick with adrenaline pumping spirits. Every staff and faculty member, football player, student government member and AHS student approached the week with competitive but positive attitudes. Being Aiea's 50th year anniversary, our homecoming theme was Here's to Many More; a theme to celebrate a big year and positive vibes to look forward to in our futures.The week consisted of it's usual homecoming dress-up days, noon hour activities, 2011 court, class t-shirts, banners and presentations, then of course the big homecoming game against Mililani High School. The numbers, participation and spirit in general was outstanding! Students dressed-up to the five dress-up days (Mustache Monday, 6-of-a-Kind Tuesday, Pretty in Pink Wednesday, That 70's Thursday and Class T-shirt Friday) and lined up at A5 to retrieve their spirit points. Student Association ran the noon hour activities during lunch consisting of mustache-fun games, group games, relay games and food games. Friday, October 23 was the biggest day of the week; the day everyone's hard work would pay off. Each grade level arrived on campus bright and early sporting their class t-shirts to prepare for a day full of festivities and competition. The pep rally ran smoothly with a decorate gym full of smiles. Each grade level presented their prize banners and the presentations they've been working on for months. BACK TO THE FUTURE

September 17, 2011: This school year is Aiea High School's 50th anniversary since it's opening in 1961. The AHS alumni association, AHS faculty and staff and kind-hearted individuals in the area worked to put together one of four big events going on throughout the school year to celebrate the school's 50th anniversary. Volunteers and chairpeople arrived at the school early that Saturday morning to set up for a day full of entertainment and activities for the AHS alumni. Aiea's current executive council participated by guiding and interacting with the alumni. Old classmates gathered and chatted in the school cafeteria for presentations, performances and a tour around the school years after their graduation classes. Clubs and classes presented their updated works like the graphics class, robotics club, smart board presentations, food service, creative dance, and visited our school's mini shop to purchase t-shirts, stickers and other items to remember the event. The day ran smoothly while the alumni reminisced about their high school memories.

OPEN HOUSE

August 24, 2011: Aiea's open house was held on Wednesday, August 24 from 6 pm to 8 pm. This years open house ran smoothly with pleased staff, parents and students. A brief PTSO meeting was held for the first half hour of the night by PTSO president, Nancy Hsu and Aiea High School's principal, Michael Tokioka. The executive council participated by passing out student schedules to eager parents and guiding them around the campus. Each period was allotted a ten minute introduction and meeting between the parents and teachers with five minute passing periods. (Click on the images provided above to enlarge)

August 16 - 17, 2011: Aiea's Homecoming and Winterball court elections were held on August 16, while Junior Prom and Senior Prom court elections were held on August 17 at lunch in the school gym. Participants running in the elections spent the last two weeks campaigning with facebook advertisements, posters, flyers and treats for their peers in the hopes of gaining votes. On election day, students schoolwide made their way down to the school gym to cast their votes. We wish all the participants the best of luck in the elections!

August 8, 2011: Club sign-ups was held in the AHS library at lunch on August 8. Various clubs formatted themselves in the school library with informational posters, flyers, applications and sign-in sheets. Each club recruited large amounts of students and held their first meeting within the first two weeks of club sign-ups. August 11, 2011: Aiea's executive council held their second executive council meeting on August 11 after school in J5. The students followed the usual protocol; evaluating past events and planning for the upcoming events. So far a lot's been going on at Aiea, from the first day back to the incredibly large amount of students that participated in the club sign-ups. However, selecting homecoming dress-up days was the hit of the meeting. Each class submitted a few dress-up day ideas and it all dwindled down to the following:

August 1, 2011: Our annual freshmen orientation was held on August 1, 2011 at the AHS school campus. The freshmen gathered for their first day of school to pick up their school IDs, class schedules and information packets for the start of a new school year. Aiea High School's faculty, staff and student government arrived early that morning to set up for a day of welcoming new faces. The day ran smoothly and everyone left campus with smiles from a great first day of school! Welcome class of 2015!

TEACHER HELP DAY

July 26, 2011: The annual teacher help day event was held on July 26, 2011 at AHS. Student officers from each class were asked to recruit 20 student volunteers from their class to help incoming and outgoing teachers clean up their rooms from this past school year for the upcoming 2011 - 2012 school year. Small groups of students were designated to stations where they met their teacher and helped him/her empty, reorganize and dust the cobwebs off their school books. After a few hours of helpful hands, the volunteers gathered at Aiea High School's gym for satisfying chili cheese nachos lunch. STUDENT LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP 2011

July 14, 2011 - July 16, 2011: The annual Student Leadership Workshop was held from July 14 to July 16 at University of Hawaii at Manoa. Student Leaders from all over the State of Hawaii gathered at the campus for three days full of fun and learning. As always, the participants showed up with various emotions; scared, excited and yes, grumpy from the early morning rush; but the event pulled through with smiles from everyone. Students were separated into 12 random groups with students from other schools, took in leadership knowledge and had a great time doing what leaders do. With "The Recipe for Leadership" being the theme of the workshop; our HSSC members sure did whip up a great event! (Click on the images provided above to enlarge)

LEADERSHIP CAMP 2011

June 5, 2011 - June 6, 2011: Aiea's annual leadership camp was held at the AHS library from June 5 to June 6. The 2011 - 2012 executive council is made up of twenty-nine students from five different councils. As the 2010 - 2011 school year came to a close, SA worked to put together the camp that'd prepare all of the incoming officers for a year full of work. Club presidents and officers joined during the first day for activities and position seminars with experienced student association officers. The leaders went over rules, regulations and our duties as officers while throwing fun games and activities every so often. The camp ended well with a much closer bond between officers and councils than before. We're all looking forward to the upcoming school year!

May 27, 2011: Aiea High School's Senior c/o 2011 Graduation was held on May 27, 2011 at Neal S. Blaisdell. The senior class officers along with their advisor, Joseph Ciccarelli and much of Aiea High School's faculty and staff members worked year long to put together the most important event of a senior's high school career; graduation. The entire event and commencement ceremonies carried out without a hitch while Aiea's 2011 seniors stood proudly before their friends, families and community as graduates. Every year, the junior class officers provide a helping hand for the seniors during their busy year, resulting in a smooth running event. Congratulations, Aiea class of 2011 seniors! EVALUATION APPRECIATION DAY

May 13, 2011: Evaluation Appreciation day was held on Friday, May 13 at the Kaka'ako Waterfront Park. The event was put together by student association and the junior class officers with the purpose to create a fun bonding day between classes and councils incorporating an evaluation of the year's events. Each class council invited 20 students from their class that they felt showed student involvement and cooperation throughout the year's activities. The junior class officers led the games and activities with the overall theme, Ancient Civilizations. The event went off successfully and all of the students who attended had a lot to say about the events in the hopes of betterment for future years. It sure was a great way to end the 2010 - 2011 school year!

May 5, 2011: Aiea High School's annual recognition dinner was held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 in the school cafeteria. After a year of hard work, student government incoming and outgoing officers along with their parents, faculty and award winning students gathered for a simple dinner and bonding for the new and the old. The night was led by SAC, Neal Nakamitsu. Starting off the night was dinner served by faculty members and cooked by well-known uncle Tommy Rodrigues, head of AHS's cafe. Following dinner was a short video of the years events created by SA secretary, Taylor Nebrija and the most important part of the night, the installation of the 2011 - 2012 officers. PRESCHOOL PLAY DAY 2011

April 21, 2011: The annual preschool play day was held on April 21, 2011 at Mililani District Park. Central District student volunteers from clubs, councils and classes made their way to the event as a service project to set-up and run game booths and activities for over 450 preschoolers. The volunteers set up their booths and games, then the Olympics began. Preschoolers from various schools made their way from booth to booth, leaving with smiles while joy filled the air. HOPE FOR JAPAN WEEK

April 25, 2011 - April 29, 2011: A month after the disasters in Japan, people around the world pitched in to help the unfortunate, Aiea High School being one of those communities. Different clubs and classes merged together into one large program working to raise money to help Japan in Aiea High School's "Hope for Japan" week. The week consisted of performances at the outdoor stage during lunch breaks and fundraisers like raffle tickets, t-shirt and wristband sales. April 12, 2011: About a week and a half after Aiea's 2011 senior prom at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, senior class advisor, Joesph Cicarrelli and his student class officers teamed up to pass out dozens of picture packages and photos taken by House of Photography. Students lined up in the court yard to retrieve their packages from A5, and although the lines built up quickly when the lunch bell rang, the officers teamwork had closed doors even before the 40-minute break. April 2, 2011: This year’s Senior Prom was on April 2, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel Ballroom and the theme was, “Nothing like you and I”. The senior prom started at five o’clock and ended at ten o’clock. Bid sales went out on February 23, 2011 and ended on March 24, 2011. All sales were in B8 Mrs. Donnely’s room during lunch. The senior class council created an assembly line for bid sales to organize their forms and collected money. This year’s Senior Prom Chairperson was senior vice president, Amithyse Moore. The Senior Prom court consisted of King and Queen, Duran Sengkhamvilay and Amithyse Moore; Prince and Princess, Clayton Ham and Ricki Alao, Mansfield Silva and Zyra Gezelle Layoen, Joshua Haili-Silva and Felicia Vongsy, Matthew Phanphengdy and Jamie Young. The court was responsible for creating a spectacular performance for the night and be role models for their fellow classmates. Favors and pictures were taken by House of Photography. INOKUCHI HIGH SCHOOL HOMESTAY STUDENTS FIND A HOME AWAY FROM HOME

March 28, 2011: From Wednesday, March 23, 2011 to Monday, March 28, 2011, two students from Aiea High School's sister school, Inokuchi High School paid a homestay visit to Hawaii. The Japanese student homestay hosts were junior Kelsie Sasabe paired with Chinatsu and Junior Ian Lactaoen paired with Ryosuke Imatomi. During their five-day trip to Hawaii, the Inokuchi students spent a couple usual school days at Aiea High School with their students. Then during the long four day weekend, they spent their days shopping, going to the beach, browsing museums and spending quality time with their newfound friends. Because the two students just arrived from Hawaii after devastation in Japan, Chinatsu and Ryosuke also spoke to appeal to not only AHS japanese students, but the entire school. As many clubs and SA prepared for a week full of work to support Japan, the students took our sympathy and let the school know how much help Japan is in need of. (Click on the images provided above)

2011 JUNIOR PROM

March 26, 2011: The 2011 junior prom was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on March 26, 2011 from 5 pm to 10 pm. After months of planning and collaborating with the junior class officers, committee members, class advisor Sean Uwaine and chairperson Leisha Bento, the night turned out a hit. Bids were $125, including a buffet dinner, dancing and party favors. The night started off with friends and bonding, onto dinner, then ended with a night full of dancing. Dinner provided a delicious menu of various tuscon foods, from salads, rice, chickens and pastas; dinner was a satisfying filling. SENIOR STAGE PAINTING

March 15, 2011: Senior class officers and volunteers took a few hours of their spring break to make their way to Aiea High School's outdoor stage. Every year, the senior class gets various opportunities to leave their mark behind as a legacy at AHS; the outdoor stage painting being one of them. Just before the end of the year, seniors design and paint the stage in remembrance of their class for the final quarter of the year and on through the following year. The class of 2011 painted the stage a turquoise-blue matching their senior class t-shirts, keeping to their color scheme since the very first day of their senior year. OSCAR ACTIVITY NIGHT

March 14 - March 15, 2011: The acronym OSCAR stands for Outstanding Student Council Award Recognition; a scrapbook of the entire year's events. Form student activities, to service activities and on to the school's organizations, the book holds it all. The 2010 - 2011 OSCAR scrapbook theme was Music, where each section of the book was broken down into smaller categories pertaining to music. The chairperson, Taylor Nebrija (SA secretary) and co-chairperson, Aubrey Bento (SA treasurer) put together two days full of work and fun. Two officers from each class was invited to the event along with all of student association and the new upcoming SA officers. Participants spent both days organizing write-ups and pulling their creativity out for the scrapbook pages. SENIOR PROJECT PRESENTATIONS

March 12, 2011: Aiea High School students who participated in the works of senior project presented on March 12 at Aiea High School's campus. The presenters prepared their work with powerpoints and presentation boards for an audience of three to four judges. The judges of the presentations consisted of faculty and staff from other schools and other well known members from Oahu, outer islands and even the mainland. Student volunteers from Aiea High School gathered at 9 o'clock am at the school library to prepare for project timing. On a well-planned schedule, the day went by quickly while senior presenters lifted the huge weight off of their shoulders by getting over the biggest presentation of their high school careers. MULTICULTURAL NIGHT

March 10, 2011: Aiea High School's annual multicultural night was held on March 10 from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Clubs who participated in the event held food booth sales in the cafeteria consisting of snacks and drinks for all who attended the event. Student activities ran the event, collecting three dollar donations at the door. Aiea's Hawaiian club, Pacific Islanders club, Southeast Asian club, Spanish club, Japanese club and our talented dance students performed african and latin fusion dances. The entire audience was also in for a treat; the Chinese Lion Dance Association visited Aiea High School performing the famous lion dance. PENNY WARS

February 22 - March 4, 2011: Aiea High School's annual penny wars competition was originally set for Tuesday, February 22, 2011 until Friday, February 25, 2011, but was extended another week until Friday, March 4. Throughout the week before penny wars, student association worked to put together advertisements like PA announcements through the PA system and on the television as well as posters and flyers which were hung all throughout the school; resulting in more participation. After the first week of the competition, volunteers from executive council helped do a preliminary count for each class. Then, on the last day of penny wars, volunteers gathered again for the final counting before money collections. While the competition brought out school spirit from each class, all money donated went to a good cause. Every penny, nickel, dime, quarter and bill was donated to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The results of the competition are shown below. A SENIOR-DEVOTED WEEK!

February 7 - 11, 2011: Senior week was held from Monday, February 7 to Friday, February 11. Although it was a rainy week, seniors loaded their hearts with spirit to enjoy a fun-filled week. The week consisted of dress-up days, noon hours, and on Thursday, February 10, their senior sneak-off was held at Dave & Busters at Ward Center in Waikiki and Kaka'ako Beach Park. The students arrived at school covering the campus with their turquoise senior class t-shirts and left looking forward to a day full of adventurous surprises. January 21, 2011: Class t-shirt day turned out the most successful with participants lining up from every grade level. During wiki, students of Aiea High School wearing their class t-shirts made their way down to the court yard to line up for the annual class t-shirt count in the final dress-up competition. Seniors led the way with a wave of blue while juniors came in second, sophomores came in third and freshmen came in last. January 19, 2011: The dress-up theme for the second day of Aiea Fest was Wacky Wednesday. Students arrived at school with out-of-this-world hair-do's and mix matched clothing. Although the technical problems caused some stress, the junior class officers took the lead in making the noon hour activity a successful event. January 18, 2011: After a long three-day weekend, students arrived at school with confidence and spirit, dressing up with the famous theme; twin day. From twins to triplets and even quadruplets, the school was filled with dopplegangers. January 14, 2011: Aiea High School's second blood drive was held on January 14, 2011 at the front of the main office building. After succeeding our goal during the first blood drive, participation increased and we donated a wopping total of 47 pints of blood with a goal of 50 pints. The planning and preparing for the event took a lot of work, but resulted in a night to remember for all participants. December 9, 2010: Winners of the holiday door decorating contest received their cool treats on a surprisingly hot winter day. STUDENT SECONDAY CONFERENCE

November 30 - December 2, 2010: From November 30th to December 2nd, over 120 students from across the state gathered at the State Capitol for the 2010 Secondary Student Conference, where Central District sent 21 students as delegates this year, and Aiea High School sent ten (Devon Tenney, Brett Tanonaka, Gabrielle Fermahin, Sierra Callihan, Jamie Fujino, Kelli Matsuo, Jessica Matias, Justine Bolosan, Jazmin Fong and Karilynn Oi). Prior to the conference, delegates attended two Pre-Conferences in which they were trained in writing resolutions and formally debating on topics. Delegates wrote resolutions that recommended solutions to issues that mattered to them. They fell into five topics - State Concerns, Curricular Concerns, Co-Curricular Concerns, Staff/Faculty Concerns, and Environmental/Facilities Concerns. At the Conference, delegates were divided into these five issue groups and chose their top three. Then, five General Assemblies were conducted where all the delegates debated the resolutions, and ultimately voted seven resolutions to be sent to the Legislature and respective authorities. In the end, the conference was very successful and enjoyable for all delegates.

December 1, 2010: During the month of December every year, student association opens boxes and bags to decorate A5 (student coordinators room) for the holidays. Although executive council's mentor was unavailable due to SSC, the decorating process was a success. With a set color theme of blue, white and silver, members of Aiea's executive council with a little help from their friends dressed the room up with christmas trees, holiday lights, ceiling danglers and much more. November 30, 2010: Aiea High School's annual christmas celebration, winterball will be held at Pacific Beach Hotel on December 19, 2010 from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm with bid values of $85. With a short time period for students to pick up winterball forms and purchase bids, the numbers have rocketed up to the sky. Within the first two days of form release, SA distributed approximately 400 forms! And, within the first few week of bid sales, nearly 60 bids were purchased. November 29, 2010: On Monday, November 29, a panel of judges went around Aiea High School's campus taking a look at the decorated holiday-themed doors for the annual holiday door decorating contest. The theme was, "Everything I Ever Wanted," where period 5 classes spent about a week decorating chart paper with 3-D objects, pictures, color and most of all spirit and creativity. And with the final tallies we've congratulated Mrs. Jennifer Garcia (A1) and Mrs. Melanie Mizuawa (A7) along with their period 5 students for tying the win! November 24, 2010: Aiea High School held it's first 2010 - 2011 C.A.R.E. recognition assembly to congratualte students with great academics and school participation. On November 22, student's period 6 teachers passed out a great number of slips to their constituents inviting them to the assembly. Teachers recognized and congratulated the students with first quarter perfect attendence, the honor roll label with a 3.8 GPA and higher and the principals list students with a 4.0 GPA and above. November 16, 2010: Aiea High School's first 2010 - 2011 blood drive was held in front of Q-building on campus. The Blood Bank of Hawaii visited AHS, and students ages seventeen and up with a weight of at least 110 were eligible to donate blood. Eager to donate, the students donated a total of 43 pints of blood, while our goal was 35 pints! We sure can't wait for another successful blood drive! October 28, 2010: Aieas annual talent search forms went out on October 12, 2010 and lasted until October 20, 2010. On Wednesday, October 28 the various acts gathered in front of Aiea High School's gym to rehearse for the talent search auditions. Groups and individuals sang covered acoustics and acapellas of current popular songs and danced for entertainment, in hopes of making the first cut of the talent search competition. All of the acts were considered winners to the three anonymous judges, but until the talent search assembly on November 12, the contestants could only wait and hope to be the lucky one! KID'S FEST

October 24, 2010: Aiea High School's executive council along with their class advisors and a few AHS club members volunteered in our annual community service event, Kid's Fest. They gathered at the entrance of the Bishop Museum bright and early on Sunday morning. The volunteers divided into groups to work during the 5-hour event at the childrens snack tents and the main food booths. Hundreds of children along with their parents enjoyed the games and activities in the court yard and educated themselves with the hands on activities held in the museum. After a tiring yet successful day, the volunteers bonded and cooled down with icy treats. It was definitely an enjoyable way to meet new people and rack up on those community service hours! INOKUCHI HIGH SCHOOL VISITATION - DIAMOND HEAD & TOUR

October 14, 2010: Both Aiea High School and Inokuchi High School students woke up bright and early to prepare themselves for the long yet, fun day ahead of them. Aiea High Schools' student association along with about 30 other Japanese 3 and 4 students rode the bus to the Waikiki Mariott hotel where the students were staying. Half of the 330 students made their way to Diamond Head Trail for the work-out they'd never forget and the other half toured four important Hawaii landmarks; the Kamehameha Statue, Iolani Palace, the State Capitol and Washington Place. INOKUCHI HIGH SCHOOL VISITATION - 10TH ANNIVERSARY

October 13, 2010: Aiea High School's sister school, Inokuchi High School from Hiroshima, Japan traveled to Oahu from September 13 to the 16. The second day back from fall break, students from all Japanese 1, 2, 3 & 4 classes gathered in the school in gym in celebration of our schools' 10th sister school anniversary. As the Japanese high schoolers arrived, the AHS Japanese students greeted them and both audiences received entertainment. Aiea High Schools' Seaside Singers sang our newest version of the school alma mater, special performances were made and Mr. Avilla's hula class taught a group of Inokuchi students basic hula moves. AHS students met with their pen pals for the first time in person and made many new friends. Then, in the final 25 minutes of the assembly, a mini basketball game was held between both schools. September 25, 2010: Thank You Aiea Day was held on Saturday, September 25 at Aiea High School from 8am until 11am. Student government along with AHS clubs helped to clean up and beautify the campus. The schools green pillars and railings along with the parking lot was repainted and fallen leaves from the campus trees were swept up. After two and a half hours of campus clean-up, the students gathered together in C2 for lunch. Aiea High School's principles, vice principles, teachers and students enjoyed a lunch bonding, with chili dogs, chips and a cool and refreshing treat. September 17, 2010: As the stressful but enjoyable homecoming day ran on, teachers, friends, students, parents and families of both Aiea Naalii's and Leilehua Mules gathered at Aiea High Schools' track and field for the most excited game of the season, homecoming! The heat was on and JV with a score of 21 - 14 and varsity 16 - 7. During half-time the marching band did their performance and the placing for the three sections of homecoming were announced. Although it wasn't the best homecoming game, the boys kept it together as one the entire night and left the field with their heads up high, ready to take on the next challenge. The junior varsity began at 4 o'clock at Kapolei's track and field and resulted with a close score of 14 - 12, Aiea. The Varsity game began a little after 7 o'clock and resulted in a loss for Aiea (7 - 0) but the boys walked off the field feeling like winners, and prepared for the upcoming game against Waianae. August 25, 2010: Aiea High School's annual open house was a very successful event. Aiea High Schools' Parent, Teacher, Student Organization (PTSO), faculty and staff planned the smooth night, where students along with their parents came to the high school for a meet and greet night with their teachers. The night started at 6 o'clock pm and lasted until 8 o'clock. Teachers spoke with parents, explaining expectations and discussed their students' current standings in class. August 24 - 25, 2010: Homecoming and winterball elections arrived quickly on our first day back from our four-day-long weekend. Student government gathered in our school gym at lunch on August 24 to prepare for the large crowd of students to elect the upcoming homecoming and winterball court. On Tuesday, August 25, the upperclassmen of Aiea High School did the same to elect the court members of their junior and senior prom. August 9 - 13, 2010: Homecoming, winterball, junior and senior prom court applications started going out on Monday, August 9 in the student activities coordinating room, A5. Every day during wiki and lunch AHS students came in and out of the room, signing and picking up forms, or returning them. After a week of outgoing and incoming forms, a total of almost 80 students had registered to run, while the upcoming 'campaign week' was right around the corner. Good luck candidates! FIRST PRE-SEASON GAME: AIEA V. DAMIEN

August 13, 2010: Aiea High Schools' varsity football players teamed up for their first pre-season game against Damien in the red division on Friday, August 13. Kick off was at 5 o'clock pm at Aiea High Schools' Track and Field. The crowds cheered on opposing teams and the intestity grew on the field quarter by quarter. Aiea won by a big 20 points, with a final score of 27 - 7. Aieas next preseason game will be held on Friday, August 20, 2010 at Aiea High Schools Track and Field. WELCOME BACK ASSEMBLY

August 6, 2010: Pokemon, Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Sesame Street and Spice Girls. Don't you just miss those days? Aiea High School's 2010 2011 welcome back assembly was themed "Childhood Memories," a great way to get the crowd hooked onto something we all used to love. The executive council along with many other staff and faculty members and their fellow students teamed up for the biggest assembly yet. The event started off with a number of officers sporting the appropriate attire for various school events; including winterball, junior and senior prom and of course, our casual school wear. Important staff and faculty members along with the gang of incoming AHS teachers were introduced, and each council blasted to the past to perform their heart-pumping showcases. WELCOME BACK PREP

With the 2010-2011 school year coming right around the corner, Aiea High School's spirited executive council met up during the summer to prepare for the upcoming welcome back assembly. Our council worked to create their costumes and learn the coreography for the performance that'd introduce them to the entire school. FRESHMEN ORIENTATION

On August 2, 2010 incoming freshmen and new students took their first steps on Aiea High Schools' campus. Our executive council gathered at 7 AM to prepare for the big day; posters were hung, ID pictures were taken, campus and staff were introduced & friends bonded after a long, exciting summer. Although it was a hectic seven-hour-long day, the entire council toughened it out, made it through the day with smiles on their faces and created newly formed bondings with the underclassmen. Clubs and important events were introduced to the new crowd as we got the freshmen class of 2014 to raise their spirits in hope of a fantastic school year! TEACHER HELP DAY

July 27, 2010: Aiea High School's annual teacher help day was a successful event, held a week before the start of the school year. On July 27, incoming teachers familiarized themselves with the campus and faculty while outgoing and continuing teachers cleaned out their cluttered classrooms from previous school years. Aiea's executive council along with nearly 40 student volunteers also put in their efforts to help clean up. Dusting, organizing, sweeping, throwing out garbage, rearranging and much more made this a very productive event, while students said their farewells to departing teachers of aiea and welcomed the incoming. STUDENT LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP

July 15 - July 17, 2010: The 2010 Student Leadership Workshop held at UH Manoa was an exciting, fun and educational experience not only for Aiea High School students, but the many other participants of this event. Student council members and leaders from different schools were assigned to random groups where teamwork took place, and workshops were held daily to gain new leadership skills and tips to better their school. Three days and two nights packed with games and activities, workshops, guest speakers, council bondings and meeting new people was just not enough! KICKING OFF THE SCHOOL YEAR

As the 2010-2011 school year comes right around the corner, the Aiea High School executive council along with student volunteers teamed up to prepare for the busy upcoming school year. Throughout the summer meetings and preparation days were held, while the newly formed executive council bonded as a group. Student association worked on preparing for the freshmen orientation held on August 2, while class officers gathered with students from their grade level to work on the biggest event of the year, homecoming!
